Cuellar Cosponsors DREAM Act, Hutchison’s Support Needed

Thanks to the organizing of youth and students–mainly immigrant–the DREAM Act has secured yet another cosponsor, bringing the total sponsors to 122 in the House of Representatives and 38 in the Senate.

Just hours ago, Representative Henry Cuellar, one of three House Reps representing the RGV, announced to DREAM activists that he would add his name to the long list of DREAM co-sponsors. Cuellar’s district includes Western Hidalgo County, all of Star County and Laredo. Also recently announcing his support was District 9 Representative Al Green, who represents the Missouri City and Mission Bend areas and part of Houston.

More work needs to be done in Texas in support of the DREAM Act. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison supported similar legislation in 2007, but since then her voice has fallen silent.
